Pediatric transfusion dosing

This isn’t a full blog post, but just an opportunity to share a resource that I think many people will find valuable. In most pediatric resuscitations, I feel very comfortable standing with the Broselow tape in my hand for dosing. If it isn’t on the Broselow, I probably have time to look it up. The one exception is a pediatric massive transfusion, such as in the setting of trauma. McMaster Children’s Hospital created this guide, colour coded to match the Broselow tape, with the appropriate dosing for TXA, packed cells, FFP, fibrinogen, platelets, calcium, and magnesium. I know I will feel better knowing this resource is available to me when needed. You can find it, among other rapid reference tools, on the First10EM quick reference page (still slowly under development).
